Spiders n Sanity

I think that I am among the few people in this world who scream or cry at the sight of an insect depending on what it is, however, today I amazed my self (Only for a short period time) and how great it felt. My cousin who was sitting on my bed along side me had been surfing the net for a considerable time with my laptop, I didn’t really seem to care as I was listening to nasheeds and thinking about random things as usual. All of the sudden I hear this loud scream and the first thing that came to my mind was “are you crazy,” there is a perfectly good reason for this, I know normally you would ask the person if they are ok and all but this time all I could think about was her screams waking my dad up (no one gets between my dad and his sleep apart from prayers and his worship of Allah). The second thing that came to my mind was my laptop (horrible I know!) but if you had seen the way she jumped up and screamed you would have also been concerned about my laptop. With my laptop been safe, I jumped up with her, and asked why she was acting up, her reply was “oh my god, oh my god, get it off me!” not knowing what she is on about I stood there for a few seconds thinking that has gone insane.

What I did not see is this huge black spider climbing her back, normally my reaction would be to scream and call my older brother, my younger brother or anyone who is available even if they are my young sisters but this time it was truly amazing as I did it all by myself (with the help of knowing my dad was asleep and thus I couldn’t scream, shout or do my normal reaction), the feeling of been proud of my efforts went away as so as I got the front door as I called for back-up.

My coolness through the whole thing was quiet funny, I simply asked her to stay still and to slowly take off her jumper, which worked wonders, until it came to taking the thing outside. I stood there for like 10seconds for her to open the door and she was still standing in place as a result of the shock she felt, I looked at her been truly astonished at the way she was acting by standing glued to one spot, I also felt angry at the same time and then the thought hit me that I am her when it comes to situations like this. I leave my brothers to deal with it, I just standing in one place shouting take it out! To make the whole traumatic situation even worse, as soon as we got outside with the jumper, the spider was no where to be found. Shocked, disgusted and scared I ran to my room to clean everything from the roof to the floor (which alhamdulilah was good, I finally sorted out my clothes), but this always happens whenever I see a spider anyone where in my room or anywhere I the house I began a cleaning session and I cant seem to figure out whether it is a psychological issue or not but spiders compel me to do things such as cleaning. Is this normal?

I just took Dr. Phils test,it is really amazing! I cant believe how spot on it was.

My score was 35 and it says that" Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful & practical. They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who's extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over if that trust is ever broken."

take the test and see what you get!

21 TO 30 POINTS: Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy. They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder. It would really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment, expecting you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then, usually decide against it. They think this reaction is caused partly by your careful nature.

UNDER 21 POINTS: People think you are shy, nervous, and indecisive, someone who needs looking after, who always wants someone else to make the decisions & who doesn't want to get involved with anyone or anything! They see you as a worrier who always sees problems that don't exist. Some people think you're boring. Only those who know you well know that you aren't.

April fool's day the Islamic perspective

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. And a man keeps on telling the truth until he becomes a truthful person. Falsehood leads to Al-Fajur (i.e. wickedness, evil-doing), and Al-Fajur (wickedness) leads to the (Hell) Fire, and a man may keep on telling lies till he is written before Allah, a liar!"
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 8.116 Narrated by Abdullah

Mu` meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah`s Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
assalamoalaikum wa rehmatullah brother in islam!

my question today is re the issues of april fool`s day, i have read the islamic view on april fool`s day and basically to the best of my understanding muslims shouldn`t celebrate this day and pull pranks on others but some ppl say that the islamic jurists who have gave this explanation are wrong, and that april fool`s has nothing to do with islam?
Can you please shed some light onto this matter via proof from quran or hadees and let me know which party is correct? jazakallah khairum

(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Answer:

April fool day
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa verse 135:O ye who believe! Stand out firmly for justice as witnesses to Allah even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor: for Allah can best protect both. Follow not the lusts (of your hearts) lest ye swerve and if ye distort (justice) or decline to do justice; verily, Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 5 Surah Maidah verse 8:O ye who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah as witnesses to fair dealing.

Dear and Beloved Brother in Islam, Islam guides and commands its followers to always stand on the side of the Truth. Jokes and pranks are almost always based on lies and falsehoods, so that one may have a laugh at the expense of another’s mishap or misery invented from a lie; and the telling of lies is absolutely forbidden in the deen of Truth called Al-Islam.

And when lies are forbidden, it cannot be considered righteousness or piety in the least to allocate a day in the year where something which is forbidden would become permissible!!!

Your Statement: some ppl say that the islamic jurists who have gave this explanation are wrong, and that april fool`s has nothing to do with islam?
The people who made the statement that ‘that april fool`s has nothing to do with islam’ are absolutely right; for indeed the deen of Truth called Al-Islam has absolutely nothing to do with such a celebration or commemoration with the concept of lies and falsehoods, even for one single moment of a day!!!

‘April fool day’ is a day of celebration and commemoration of the ignorant who glorify the concept of lies and falsehood in the guise of jokes and pranks they play and have a laugh at the expense of their friends. The believers who sincerely fear Allah and the Last Day are sincere well-wishers to their friends and acquaintances alike, and there is absolutely no room for the concept of lies and falsehoods in the deen of Truth called Al-Islam, even for a single moment of one day!

Your Question: Can you please shed some light onto this matter via proof from quran or hadees and let me know which party is correct?
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 5 Surah Maidah verse 119: Allah will say (on the Day of Judgment): "This is a Day on which the truthful will profit from their truth: theirs are Gardens with rivers flowing beneath their eternal home: Allah well-pleased with them and they with Allah: that is the Great Salvation.”

Beloved brother in Islam, the answer to your question is as simple as this: the party which glorifies the concept of truth is correct, and the party which strives to glorify the concept of lies and falsehood, even for a moment in a day, is obviously in the wrong!

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan

The drama starts the moment first semester begins. Why is it that as soon as University starts procrastination season kicks in, I don’t know if it’s the thrill of producing something out of nothing in the dying minutes, or just a psychological problem but procrastination SUX!
I got three essays to write in a months, and yet I seem to be not worried one bit. I know I will get it done in the end, thus, nothing I try seems to work. A friend has suggested that I play psychological mind games” with my mind but I doubt that it will work but hey it’s worth the try.

Rumor, why is it that something that starts out of an untruthful talk turns a whole community against each? I honestly think that gossipers don’t think about the consequences and effects that the things they are saying will have on people. Although backbiting and gossip is haram, Muslims have through time forgotten that Allah has made gossip haram for us and with good reason.

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said:"Do you know what backbiting is?" They said, "God and His Messenger know best." He then said, "It is to say something about your brother that he would dislike." Someone asked him, "But what if what I say is true?" The Messenger of God said, "If what you say about him is true, you are backbiting him, but if it is not true then you have slandered him." (Muslim).

I honestly hope that people will soon realize the effects that gossip and backbiting has on individuals and the community as a whole, it’s a very dangerous weapon that can tear so many people apart. That is already happening where I live, people are so divided and torn apart and its al because of a few people that started some rumors. I really don’t know what the person who started all of this was trying to achieve but they have created an endless fire which only Allah can extinguish.

Till next time ma’salam.

Second year.

Salamz.
Alhamdulilah im really enjoying second year, the various papers that we can do is just so amazing and it sucks at the same time. I have had to stop doing some of my RELS papers as they conflict with my Political science, but hey the papers that i am taking now are so interesting! The media and politics papers is FANTASTIC and i also like the Human dimensions paper, even though we study alot of the death and destruction that goes on in the world and as sad as it is, it is really interesting as it opens your eyes to alot.

I am proud to say that the Christ student group, have not come anywhere near me, although one of them as talked to my Christian friend about me, i get the feeling that he does not want my friend to be hanging around me as i might "convert" him. lol I wish, but only allah guides.

i would just like to the a moment to thank everyone who has been making dua for, especially bro Om. Subhanllah the power of dua is so strong, but alot of muslims dont realise this. So remember, next time that your in a tricky situation make dua to allah and everything will be ok!

1st post in ages

Asalamu calikum.
Omg, its been such a long time since I have written anything. So much has happened. FINALLY my sis has given birth to a beautiful baby girl alhamdulilah, whom we have given two names since we disagreed on what to call her. My bro in-laws dad called up and said that we should call her "Yusra", they just went along with it not to be rude or anything. But come on if he’s really in love with the name yusra why didn’t he call his many daughters that name? We (the majority of the family) like the name Maryam in comparison to Yusra, so we're kinda sticking to it lol.

I can’t wait to go back home, I miss my home town so much, I miss my bed, my friends and family even though they’re out of the country. I can’t believe that this time next month insha’allah that I will be getting ready for the first semester of my second year. How time flies... insha'allah now that I’m some what of a senior i wont be getting hassled by the Christian group who are on a crusader to "introduce [me] to the beautiful teachings of Jesus Christ" I pray to Allah that he gives me the strength, patience to deal with them, the knowledge, understanding and compassion to show them the true teachings of Islam.

These people are so passionate about god, it’s a wonderful thing but the focus that they have is turned towards the wrong direction, only Allah can guide but i hope and pray that he shows them the light and guides them to the true religion of Islam and may he keep us on the right path. so many of us born Muslims don’t realize who fortunate that we are to not have gone through the struggle of not knowing Islam, Allah blessed us with a great blessing by placing Islam in our hearts from birth till now and insha'allah it’ll continue forever.

Please make du'a for me cos I’m kinda going through a rough patch, I know that Allah tests our faith in him and that we have to be patient but sometimes I feel kinda weak. Alhamdulilah my patience is getting better. Actually make du'a for all Muslims; there are more people out there who are in situations which are incomparable to mine.
Till next time, ma’salam
