The sunnah

Following the Sunnah (example) of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is a fundamental part of Islam.. Allah orders us in numerous places in the Qu'ran to obey Him and to obey the messenger. Alhumdulillah, the record of the Prophet's (sunnah) have been kept until the present day. It is to our own detriment, if we fail to study both the Qu'ran and the Sunnah.

To be a true Muslim, the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) must be followed. The sources of information about the Sunnah are found in Hadith (sayings and actions of the Prophet as well as things that he silently consented to). There are many authentic books of hadith from which these references are derived as well as scholars of hadith, who spend years of memorizing, studying and understanding the science of hadith.

When a Muslim knows the Qu'ran and seeks to obey the orders of Allah (ta'ala), it naturally follows that he/she will obey the Prophet (peace be upon him) as this is ordered by Allah in Qu'ran.

{And obey Allah and the Messenger (Muhammad ) that you may obtain mercy}(3:132)

Islam is a way of life. Not just a set of orders, restrictions etc, but a spiritual, practical and natural development of the human being and society into a well organized, just and pious state of being. Muslims are those who, by following the Prophet (peace be upon him), who was said to be the 'Qu'ran in action', develop characteristics that are esteemed by all. It is upon the base of such characters, that a truly Islamic society emerges. The Muslim who follows the Sunnah, learns how to combine strength with gentleness, modesty with courage, patience with fortitude and spirituality with practicality.

The Muslim who follows the sunnah of Muhammad (peace be upon him) is kind, gentle and generous to the family, hospitable to the guest, brave in battle and forgiving in victory. The Muslim who follows the Sunnah is modest in dress and manners, wealth is marked by humility and generosity, poverty is accompanied by patience, hope and effort, malice and revenge have no place in the heart and the constant love and fear of Allah (ta'ala) reigns supreme in both heart and mind, and is the pivot point of action in their lives.

May Allah (ta'ala) fortify our Iman and give us knowledge that is beneficial to us. May He, Who is the Most Merciful, let us appreciate the light of Islam, amidst the degeneration of mankind, and establish us on the way of the Sunnah.

WHO IS ALLAH?

Please try to read all and make time for the One who made you inshallah.

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) described the greatness of Allah in the most beautiful way:

"He is controlling the affairs of all the kingdoms. He commands and prohibits, creates and gives provision, and gives death and gives life. He raises and lowers people’s status, alternates night and day, gives days (good and not so good) to men by turns, and causes nations to rise and fall, so that one nation vanishes and another emerges. His command and decree are carried out throughout the heavens and on earth, above it and below it, in the oceans and in the air. He has knowledge of all things and knows the number of all things. He hears all voices, and does not mistake one for another; He hears them all, in all the different languages and with all their varied requests and pleas. No voice distracts Him from hearing another, He does not confuse their requests, and He never tires of hearing the pleas of those in need. He sees all that is visible, even the walk of a black ant across a solid rock in the darkest

The unseen is visible to Him, and secrets are known to Him Whosoever is in the heavens and on earth begs of Him (its needs from Him). Every day He has a matter to bring forth (such as giving honour to some, disgrace to some, life to some, death to some, etc.)! [The Quran 55:29 interpretation of the meaning]. He forgives sins, eases worries, relieves distress, helps the defeated person back on his feet, makes the poor rich, guides the one who is astray and confused, fulfils the needs of the desperate, feeds the hungry, clothes the naked, conceals faults, and calms fears. He raises the status of some and lowers the status of others. Even if all the inhabitants of heaven and earth, the first and the last of them, mankind and jinn alike, were to be as pious as the most pious among them, this would not increase His sovereignty in the slightest; if they all, the first and the last of them, mankind and jinn alike, were to be as rebellious as the most rebellious among them, this would not decrease His sovereignty in the slightest. If everything in heaven and on earth, the first and the last of them, mankind and jinn, living and dead, animate and inanimate, were to stand in one place and ask of Him, and He were to give them everything that they asked for, this would not decrease what He has by even an atom’s weight.

He is the First, before Whom there is nothing, and the Last, after Whom there is nothing. He is the Most deserving of being remembered, the Most deserving of being worshipped, the Most deserving of being thanked. He is the Most Compassionate of kings, the Most Generous of those who are asked. He is the King Who has no partner or associate, the One who has no rival, the Self-Sufficient Master, Who has no son, the Most High, and there is none like unto Him. Everything will perish save His face [Quran 28:88 interpretation of the meaning], and everything will vanish except His sovereignty. He will not be obeyed except by His permission, and He will not be disobeyed except with His knowledge. He is obeyed, so He shows His appreciation, and He is disobeyed, so he forgives. Every punishment on His part is justice, and every blessing from Him is a favour. He is the closest of witnesses and the nearest of protectors. He seizes people by their forelocks, records their deeds and decrees the appointed time for all things. Hearts conceal nothing from Him, for secrets are known to Him. His gift is a word and His punishment is a word: Verily, His Command, when He intends a thing, is only that He says to it, Be! and it is. [Quran, 36:82 interpretation of the meaning].

So please remember Allah in the hardest of times and in the happiest and go to him for help.

Love of Allah

The love of the Belovedmust be unconditionally returned.
If you claim loveyet oppose the Beloved, then your love is but a pretence. You love the enemies of your Belovedand still seek love in return.
You fight the beloved of your Beloved.
Is this Love or the following of shaytaan?
True devotion is nothingbut total submissionof body and soulto One Love.
We have seen humans claim to submit, yet their loyalties are many.
They put their trust here, and their hope there, and their love is without consequence.

Obsession

As human beings we also have something to complain about, it’s in our natural instinct: whether we are the richest or poorest person, we are an ungrateful bunch. Till a few days ago I never really realized how much I have and how fortunate I am, Allah could have given it all to another person yet he picked me. How many of us really deserve all the blessings that we are given how many of us are grateful for these blessings. We have sight, mobility, food, education; a roof over our heads and above everything else Allah guided us to the light by placing Islam in our hearts. Are we thankful for that? If so what do we do to thank Allah, what do we do for our place in jannah? Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) advised us to "Look at those below you and not those above you. It is better for you, so that you do not deny Allah’s blessings on you."
There is great wisdom behind this as it helps us as appreciate what we have, making us more thankful and aware of those who are not as fortunate as we are. However, if we are always looking to those above us we are going to feel miserable and down all the time as we can’t compete with them. When look to the way Muslims of the past lived we can see that they led happy lives with the simplest things, I feel so ashamed for wanting things that I hardly need. For example cell phones, I always want the new ones as they have more functions than the pervious ones, however, as my sisters says “if you can text and call what more are you asking for.” I’m not after new phones because they’re in “fashion” but because of the kool gadgets, im so obsessed with them I need help. Insha’allah I will work through this obsession with the help of Allah, I know how lucky I am and to spend money on unless things isn’t that great, my money should go towards something that will benefit me in the hereafter and that’s something that I will have to work on.
anywayz gotta to go.
Ma’salam.

Poetry

I love reading poetry, especially when there’s sentimental things and words of warning combined in it. I love poems that express gratitude and love for Allah (swt) and prophet Muhammad(saw), it really helps you to reflect on yourself as your reading through the poem. One of my favourite poems right now is by G.H.E Vanker and the poem is called 'Operation Death', its great masha'allah

It was early in the morning at four.
When death knocked upon a bedroom door.
"Who is there?" the sleeping one cried. "I'm Izrael, let me inside."
At once, the man began to shiver, as one sweating in deadly fever,
he shouted to his sleeping wife, "Don't let him take away my life."

"Please go away, O Angel of Death! Leave me alone,
I'm not ready yet.
My family on me depend, give me a chance,O please prepense!"
The Angel knocked again and again,
"Friend! I'll take your life without a pain,
'It is your soul Allah require, I come not with my own desire.
Bewildered, the man began to cry,
"O Angel! I'm so afraid to die I'll give you gold and be your slave,
don't send me to the unlit grave."

"Let me in, O Friend!"
the Angel said, "Open the door,
get up from your bed.
If you do not allow me in,
I will walk through it, like a Jinn."
The man held a gun in his right hand,
ready to defy the Angel's stand,
"I'll point my gun, towards your head.
You dare come in, I'll shoot you dead."
By now, the Angel was in the room,
Saying, "O Friend! Prepare for your doom.
Foolish man, Angels never die,
Put down your gun and do not sigh."
"Why are you afraid! Tell me O man,
to die according to Allah's plan? Come,
smile at me, do not be grim, be happy to return to Him."

"O Angel! I bow my head in shame,
I had no time to take Allah's name.
From morn till dusk I made my wealth,
not even caring for my health."
"Allah's commands I never obeyed nor five times a day I ever prayed.
A Ramadan came and Ramadan went but no time had I to repent."
"The Haj was already fard on me But I would not part with my money.
All charities I did ignore taking usury more and more."

"Sometimes I sipped my favorite wine with flirting women I sat to dine.
O Angel! I appeal to you spare my life for a year or two."
"The Laws of Qur'an I will obey,
I'll begin Salat this very day. My Fast and Haj,
I will complete, and keep away from self conceit."
"I will refrain from usury,
and give all my wealth to charity,
wine and wenches I will detest,
Allah's oneness I will attest."

"We Angels do what Allah demands,
we cannot go against His commands.
Death is ordained for everyone,
father, mother, daughter or son."
"I'm afraid, this moment is your last,
now be reminded, of your past.
I do understand your fears but it is now too late for tears."
"You lived in this world, two score and more,
Never did you, your people adore.
Your parents, you did not obey,
hungry beggars, you turned away."
"Your two ill-gotten, female offsprings,
in night-clubs, for livelihood they sing.
Instead of making more Muslims,
you made your children non-Muslims."

"You ignored the Mu'athin's Athaan,
nor did you read the Holy Qur'an.
Breaking promises all your life,
backbiting friends, and causing strife."
"From hoarded goods, great profits you made,
and your poor workers, you underpaid.
Horses and cards were your leisure,
money-making was your pleasure."
"You ate vitamins and grew more fat,
with the very sick, you never sat.
A pint of blood you never gave, which could a little baby save."

"O human, you have done enough wrong,
you bought good properties for a song.
When the farmers appealed to you,
you did not have mercy, 'tis true."
"Paradise for you? I cannot tell,
undoubtedly you will dwell in hell.
There's no time for you to repent,
I'll take your soul for which I'm sent."

The ending, however, is very sad.
Eventually the man became mad.
With a cry, he jumped out of bed.
And suddenly, he fell down dead.
O Reader! take a moral from here, you never know, your end may be near. Change your living and make amends, for heaven, on your deeds depends.

By now as Muslims we should Realize that any minute, hour, or day could be our last on this earth. As each minute passes by we’re one step closer to our grave, and our final destination. Each time that we pray we should as for forgiveness from Allah (swt) to make things easy not only for ourselves, our family and friends but also the Muslim Ummah at large. Insha’allah when death approaches we won’t be scared and frighten, we can smile brightly because we’re that close to meeting our creator.
Allah(swt) said in the Qur’an that "Every soul shall have taste of death; In the end to us shall ye be brought back” .(Surah Al-'Ankabut The Spider 29:57), its inevitable we will all die some day, we just have to prepare for that day. Imagine meeting all the prophets (pbut), the sahabas, and all the righteous people on top of seeing our creator. I pray that Allah restores the faith of all the Muslims and that he guides those in Prophet Muhammad’s ummah who are blinded from the truth. I pray that Allah (swt) makes things easy for the Muslims and helps those Muslims who are in country occupied by the non-believes.

Bright and Beautiful

Asalamu alaykum.
i just came across this on one of my faves sites, subhanallah! what can i say it makes sense. May allah protect us from all our evil traits, Purify our souls, may Allah place the love of worship in our hearts, may he keep shaytan away from us and may he make us an ummah that not only stands up for Islam but also an ummah make nabbi Muhammad(pbuh) proud.Ameen!

Have you ever wondered why so many people who were bright and beautiful as children, however, as they grow older their innocence and beauty eludes them? Well, wonder no more - ShaykhulIslaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) explains to us:
"The person who is righteous and honest, his honesty is manifest from the radiance from his face, and his honesty can be known from the glow on his face, likewise the (opposite for the) sinful one and the liar. The older a person gets, the more this sign becomes apparent. Thus a person as a child would have a bright face, however if he becomes a sinful person, adamant on committing sins, at the older stages in his life, an ugly face would manifest that which he used to internalise, and the opposite is also true. It has been narrated that Ibn Abbaas (radiyallaahu 'anhu) said, 'Indeed righteousness illuminates the heart, radiates the face, strengthens the body, increases provision, and produces a love in the heart of the creation for that person. Whereas sinfulness darkens the heart, greys the face, weakens the body, and produces hatred in the hearts of the creation for that person.'
It is possible that a person may not intentionally lie; he may even be a person who makes great effort in ibaadah and zuhd (abstains from pleasures of this life that are lawful). However he has false, incorrect 'aqeedah regarding either Allaah, His deen or His Messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) or His righteous servants. And what is on the inside effects what is on the outside. Thus, this false, incorrect 'aqeedah that he thought was true and correct reflects on his face, and his face would be dark in accordance with the level of falsehood he possesses. As it has been narrated that 'Uthmaan ibn Affaan (radiyallaahu 'anhu) said, 'No one ever hides evil within themselves except that Allaah makes it manifest from his facial outlook and the statements his tongue utters.' Hence some of the salaf used to say, 'If a person of innovation were to dye his beard every day, the dye of innovation would remain on his face.' On the day of judgement this would be very clear as Allaah says,
"And on the Day of Resurrection you would see those who lied against Allaah their faces wil be black. Is there not in Hell an abode for the arrogant ones?" [Sooratuz-Zumar, 39:60]
He ta'ala also said,"On the Day when some faces will become white and some faces will become black; as for those whose faces will become dark (to them will be said): "Did you reject Faith after accepting it? Then taste the torment for rejecting Faith." [Soorah Aali-Imraan, 3:106]
Ibn Abbaas and others have said regarding this verse, 'The bright faces will be ahlus-sunnah, and dark faces
will the people of bid'ah and division.

Total confusion and immense energy.

Today I woke up with this immense energy that I just can’t explain, I feel like as if I’ve just drank a dozen V cans of energy drink. Seriously I haven’t been near an energy drink since the last essay that I had to write for my political science class, now I have to put all this energy into good use.
I just got an email from the leader of the group that we want to affiliate our youth group with and he called me “brother” lol, I still can’t get over it. I still haven’t got back to him or to his group think I’ll let Saeed get back to them. Honestly im so confused on what to take next year (insha’allah if and when it comes), I think I will do a level two political science paper in the first semester and a third level paper on the second semester and I might continue with psychology. Anywho I gotta go call leyla, so cya letta.

Culture vs Islam

I just watched this vid, it is so FUNNY and sad at the same time however, it is so TRUE. This bro makes a lot valid points about the way Muslims nowadays are compromising and mixing the teaching of Islam with their cultures, which ends up not only confusing the kids but also the non-Muslims around them. This is the sad reality and the state of the Muslim Ummah. Masha’allah this bro has done a great job may Allah reward him, all Muslims should watch this and take note of it. heres the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GT3ol-iuCGU
